Tobias Roux Wilkoff
We have a son, and his name is Tobias Roux Wilkoff. We will write much more about him as the days and weeks progress, but for now I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
I would also like to share the minutes of our experience, which I took via the ipod touch. (I was also using twitter to send out a few messages which I have included as a part of this set, which does indeed make me a total nerd):
Itinerary from hospital:
July 13
3:00 pm – arrival at hospital
3:45 pm – 3 centimeters, ultrasound checkup… Head down.
4:10 pm – receive vouchers from st. Joseph’s for being induced so late.
4:26 pm – first pitocin given
4:46 pm – uppped the pitocin
5:03 pm – upped the pitocin
5:35 pm – upped the pitocin
6:17 pm – upped pitocin (pain level 2-3)
6:44 pm – upped pitocin (3)
7:15 pm – Edna the nurse left, Sue the nurse came in
7:45 pm – pain level 4
7:54 pm – breaking water
8:08 pm – increase pitocin
8:18 pm – baby heartrate going down with contractions… Head monitor put on baby… Oxygen on kara… Decrease pitocin
8:15 pm – pain level at 5.5
9:08 pm – pain level at 6.5
9:20 pm – heart rate down… Two docs in room… Still 4 cm
9:30 pm – epidural!
10:30 pm – inter-uterine monitor for baby because baby does not seem to like too much pitocin
10:36 pm – catheter put in
Napping, lots of contraction, giant preasure feelings, no more than 2.5 in pain
July 14
2:00 am – fully dilated
2:18 am – first try at pushing… Baby doesn’t like it… Heart rate goes down
Lots of pressure, “passive descent”, hand rubbing
3:00 am – decision to do c-section due to low heart rate after pushing
3:51 am – birth of our son
47cm (18.5 inches)
7lb 2.8oz

Congrats! We are delighted to hear of the arrival of your second child. The level of difficulty in giving birth is staggering to me- that’s why I have always left it up to Erica. Cheers to you Kara!
