Family Date July 4, 2008

We had a gift certificate for an overnight stay at the Hyatt Convention Center downtown and it had to be used before it expired.  We decided that it would probably be easier to do this before baby 2 was born, so we made a family date.  Although we are all suffering with a crazy sinus infection, we decided to go anyways….and through sniffels, sneezes, coughs and clogged nasal passages, we had a really amazing time.  We checked in around 10am and then went to lunch at Bubba Gumps.  We had never been there before.  Isabelle ate almost all the shrimp off my po-boy sandwhich–completely fine with me.  We then walked around downtown–Isabelle LOVED watching the buses and trains–she couldn’t get enough of them.  We came back to our room and took a nap….then showers…then off to the pool.  Isabelle had a great time watching the other kiddos jump in and splash and she kept getting more and more adventerous.  After swimming, we headed back out on the town where we had dinner, desert and coffee.  We headed back to the hotel aroud 8pm–we were trying to keep Isabelle up for the fireworks.   Luckily they started around 9pm.  Our room was on the 24th floor and had an AMAZING view.  We turned off all the lights, pulled our chairs close to the window and watched fire works, trains and buses for at least an hour.  Isabelle just kept talking and talking about everything that she was seeing.  It was truly wonderful.  At about 10pm we all climbed in bed.  Ben and Isabelle were out–snoring!  Me, on the other hand, well, I couldn’t sleep too well between feeling cruddy and feeling gigantic.  Luckily, I have the best husband in the world–so I would wake him up every couple hours and he would rub my back–that helped.  The next morning, we got up, headed down for breakfast, watched trains (yet again!)…..and concluded our family date.  It was AWESOME.
