Izzie’s First Halloween…

The cutest pea in the cutest pod. That was our Isabelle this year for halloween. She performed quite well in her first acting role, rolling around and looking all plump. She did have to take frequent meal breaks, but we think on the whole, the night was a resounding success.

Papa and his toys…

Thank goodness for Papa’s love for and knowledge of gadgets. All of these photos were taken by Papa during his first encounter with the force of life that is Isabelle Roux Wilkoff. He sure did capture many of the expressions that we can never get enough of.

Sucking on Daddy’s nose.

I don’t have the ability to breastfeed, but don’t think for one minute that I am missing out on the suckling action. Isabelle just so happens to enjoy sucking on the end of my nose. This seems to pasify her and entertain me quite well. I’m not sure I ever want her to stop, but [...]

Sleeping with Grandma

Isabelle seems to really enjoy laying on Grandma Libby’s chest. She zonks right out in that position as often as she can. We have gotten a few more hours of sleep due to this fantastic phenomenon, but I know it won’t last forever. Even Grandmas have to go home eventually.

A little early aren’t we?

We just can’t wait to dress Isabelle up in the many outfits that we have already aquired. Today was just the first attempt at such a feat. I’m not sure if there is anything more cute/disturbing than dressing your child up in clothes just to see how she looks. Is it in Isabelle’s best interest? [...]

Going on our first walk together.

Before Kara became pregnant, we would walk nearly every day. It was our way of connecting to one another and figuring out what was going on in our lives together. I would like walking to become that for all three of us now. The pregnancy aside, we are very healthy people. I think it is [...]

Around the house.

Everything we do is baby. I have been more wrapped up in the thin skin of baby hands than even in showering or dressing myself. I become excited about changing diapers, wanting to know exactly how successful we have been at getting Isabelle the nourishment she needs. Watching her is now my favorite hobby.
Eventually we [...]

Wombat in a swing.

Isabelle isn’t big enough for this swing so we decided to put the Wombat that my father gave us in it. I think that he fits rather well, and so he will stay there until Isabelle wants some crazy swinging action. My hope is that the Wombat will become a transitional object for Isabelle. Right [...]

Day 2 of Isabelle

Sleep matters so little when you get to look at your child whenever you want. And trust me, we have looked at her a lot today.
We learned how to do everything better today: breastfeeding, swaddling, and changing diapers. Tomorrow we will be at home, but for today we are enjoying learning from the experts. I’m [...]

Last Day at the Hospital and First day at Home

I couldn’t wait to get Isabelle home. St. Joseph’s had been very good to us, but the really isn’t anything like being at home with your daughter. Isabelle has been having some trouble feeding every 3 hours; she seems to want to either sleep longer, yell more, or eat less. I think that we have [...]
